Gorgosaurus was a large tyrannosaurid theropod dinosaur that lived about 76–75 million years ago during the Late Cretaceous period. Its name means “fierce lizard.” Closely related to Tyrannosaurus rex, Gorgosaurus was a powerful carnivore with sharp teeth and strong jaws built for hunting large herbivores. Like other tyrannosaurids, it relied on its formidable claws and teeth to capture and tear into prey. This is a replica of a Gorgosaurus claw.
