Step back to the dawn of the dinosaurs with this detailed Coelophysis figure from Safari Ltd. Coelophysis was a swift, lightly built theropod that lived about 200 million years ago in what is now New Mexico. Known as one of the first agile predators, it used its long legs and sharp, serrated teeth to chase down prey.
First discovered in the 1880s, Coelophysis was poorly understood until 1947, when hundreds of complete skeletons were unearthed at Ghost Ranch, New Mexico. This incredible fossil site revealed individuals of all ages, helping paleontologists piece together the story of this early carnivore.
Scientific Name: Coelophysis bauri
This hand-painted figure highlights the dinosaur’s slender build, long tail, three-toed feet, and narrow, tooth-filled jaws. At about 10 feet long in life, Coelophysis was quick and nimble, a true hunter of the Triassic.
The Safari Ltd. Coelophysis toy measures 7.25 inches long and 2.5 inches high.
