Pachycephalosaurus Toe Claw Fossil

Own a fascinating piece of dinosaur history with this authentic Pachycephalosaurus wyomingensis toe claw fossil from the renowned Hell Creek Formation of Montana. Dating to the Late Cretaceous Period approximately 66 million years ago, this remarkable specimen comes from the final chapter of the Age of Dinosaurs.

This exceptional specimen is presented on the custom-built display stand pictured, featuring a 4 × 4 × 2-inch wooden base. With the claw mounted on the stand, the complete display measures approximately 6.25 inches tall, creating an attractive, museum-style presentation ready for display.

The toe claw measures approximately 1.5 inches long and displays the distinctive twisting morphology characteristic of Pachycephalosaurus claws. Known for their thick, domed skulls, pachycephalosaurs were small to medium-sized herbivorous dinosaurs that inhabited western North America alongside iconic species such as Tyrannosaurus rex and Triceratops during the final age of dinosaurs.

The specimen exhibits beautiful natural preservation with excellent surface detail and coloration, making it an outstanding display piece for fossil collectors, dinosaur enthusiasts, educators, or natural history collections.

Claws attributed to Pachycephalosaurus are especially sought after due to the rarity of identifiable material from these unusual dome-headed dinosaurs, making this a distinctive addition to any dinosaur fossil collection.

A detailed provenance portfolio and Certificate of Authenticity will accompany this specimen. Discovery coordinates from the private Hell Creek Formation locality will be provided to the buyer within the provenance documentation.

About Pachycephalosaurus wyomingensis

Pachycephalosaurus wyomingensis was a distinctive Late Cretaceous dinosaur best known for its remarkably thick, domed skull. Its name means “thick-headed lizard,” referring to the massive dome of bone that formed the top of its skull.

Pachycephalosaurus lived in western North America near the end of the Cretaceous Period and shared its environment with dinosaurs including Tyrannosaurus rex, Triceratops, Edmontosaurus, and Ankylosaurus. Although its distinctive skull is its most recognizable feature, fossils representing other parts of the animal are considerably less familiar to most collectors.

About the Hell Creek Formation

The Hell Creek Formation is one of the most famous fossil-producing formations in the world and is renowned for preserving some of the last non-avian dinosaurs to live before the end-Cretaceous mass extinction event approximately 66 million years ago.

Spanning portions of Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming, the formation preserves an ancient landscape of rivers, floodplains, forests, and coastal lowlands that supported an extraordinary diversity of life. Fossils from the Hell Creek Formation include Tyrannosaurus rex, Triceratops, Edmontosaurus, Ankylosaurus, Pachycephalosaurus, turtles, crocodilians, fish, mammals, and many other organisms.

Because of its scientific importance and extraordinary fossil record, authentic specimens from the Hell Creek Formation remain highly valued by collectors, educators, museums, and researchers.
