This Eryops skull replica was created from a fossil discovered in Wichita Basin, Texas. Eryops was a giant, primitive amphibian that lived during the Lower Permian about 270 million years ago. It was a land-dwelling, semi-aquatic vertebrate with an elongated face. Most of its skull was in front of its eyes. The roof of its mouth contained backward-curved fangs and backward-pointing bony projections useful for trapping slippery prey.
