This striking Walliserops trifurcatus trilobite is a remarkable example of the elaborate forms found in ancient Devonian seas. Dating to the Middle Devonian, approximately 390 million years ago, this specimen comes from the Timrhanrhart Formation of Morocco.
Walliserops trifurcatus is immediately recognizable for its extraordinary three-pronged projection extending from the front of the cephalon. This specimen displays that dramatic trident-like structure beautifully, along with prominent curved spines, a strongly segmented exoskeleton, and numerous spines extending along the body.
