Ceratarges aries Trilobite

This striking Ceratarges aries trilobite showcases the elaborate spines and dramatic form that make this unusual Devonian trilobite so visually impressive. Dating to the Middle Devonian Period, approximately 390 million years ago, the specimen comes from the El Otfal Formation of Morocco.

The trilobite features an exceptionally ornate appearance, with numerous fine spines extending along the sides of its segmented body and several prominent, elongated spines sweeping outward from the head and rear. Viewed from different angles, the three-dimensional preparation beautifully displays the intricate structure of the exoskeleton and the dramatic curvature of the longer spines.

Measuring approximately 2 inches, the trilobite is presented on a natural 3.5 x 3 inch matrix. The dark fossil contrasts beautifully against the lighter stone, creating a display piece that highlights the remarkable diversity and complexity of trilobites that inhabited ancient Devonian seas.
