This impressive Drotops armatus trilobite is a striking example of the heavily ornamented trilobites that inhabited the seas of Devonian Morocco. Dating to the Middle Devonian Period approximately 390 million years ago, this specimen displays the robust form and dramatic spination characteristic of Drotops.

The trilobite features a strongly segmented exoskeleton with numerous prominent spines extending across the thorax and around the margins of the body. Its textured cephalon and raised preparation give the fossil substantial three dimensional depth.
