Drotops Trilobite (4.5" on 5.5 x 3" Matrix)
This impressive Drotops trilobite is a large, highly detailed example of the distinctive trilobites that inhabited the seas of Devonian Morocco. Its elongated form, extensive spination, and strongly textured cephalon make it an especially striking display specimen.
The trilobite features a well defined segmented exoskeleton with rows of prominent spines extending along the thorax and around the outer margins. The broad cephalon displays pronounced granular texture, while the raised preparation allows the three dimensional anatomy and long lateral spines to be appreciated from multiple angles.
Measuring approximately 4.5 inches long, the trilobite rests on an approximately 5.5 x 3 inch natural matrix. Its long, relatively narrow presentation beautifully emphasizes the proportions of the animal and the extensive spination running nearly the entire length of the body.
