Drotops Trilobite (4" on 4.5 x 4" Matrix)

This impressive Drotops trilobite is a striking example of the heavily ornamented trilobites that inhabited the seas of Devonian Morocco. Dating to the Devonian Period, this specimen displays the robust form and dramatic spination characteristic of Drotops.

The trilobite features a strongly segmented exoskeleton with numerous prominent spines extending across the thorax and around the body. Its broad cephalon displays a distinctive tuberculated surface, while the raised preparation gives the fossil substantial three dimensional depth. Viewed from the sides, the extensive spination and elevated body create an especially dramatic profile.

Measuring approximately 4 inches long, the trilobite is presented on an approximately 4.5 x 4 inch natural matrix. The dark fossil contrasts with the lighter surrounding stone, highlighting its detailed segmentation, textured surface, and numerous spines.
