Fossilized clams are a prized possession among fossil and mineral collectors because they are a natural combination of fossils and crystals known for their beauty and preservation. The interior is filled with golden calcite crystals resembling a fossil geode, and the crystals glow under UV light. These clams come from Ruck's Pit cement quarry in Florida. The quarry was shut down and filled with water around 2006. It has since reopened as a pay-to-dig site, but specimens of this quality are hard to acquire now.
