Scotoharpes Trilobite (2" on 4.5 x 4" Matrix)
This distinctive Scotoharpes trilobite is a striking example of the unusual forms found among harpetid trilobites. From Morocco, this specimen displays the broad, horseshoe shaped cephalic fringe that makes Scotoharpes immediately recognizable.
The trilobite features a dark, strongly segmented body surrounded by an expansive cephalic fringe with long, dramatically curving extensions. Its raised preparation gives the specimen a pronounced three dimensional appearance, allowing the sweeping shape of the fringe and segmented body to be appreciated from multiple angles. The nearly black fossil contrasts beautifully against the light colored natural matrix.
Measuring approximately 2 inches long, the trilobite is presented on an approximately 4.5 x 4 inch matrix. The generous matrix provides a natural backdrop while keeping the trilobite's distinctive morphology as the focal point.
