Trilobite Fossil (Harpes)
Trilobite Fossil (Harpes)
Harpetid trilobites are known for the large, semicircular brim around the head. Scientists believe this served as a filter-feeding apparatus. The brim reaches back on both sids of the head. Rust coloration on some specimens is due to oxidation of iron, which adds an intriguing color contrast. Trilobites are extinct marine arthropods that lived during the Paleozoic era. Trilobites look like hard-shelled insects, but they were more like crustaceans. Own a piece of history with a rare ancient relic!
