Oreodonts are also known as Merycoidodontoidea or ruminating hogs. They are extinct, cud-chewing mammals with fang-like canine teeth and short faces. They are closely related to pigs and camels, but they don't have any close living relatives today. They were about the size of sheep and roamed the plains of North America about 30 million years ago. This oreodont fossil features the skull, including the teeth! The matrix is approximately 15 inches by 13 inches. Portions of the fossil are about 8 inches long.
