Giant Armadillo Scute Display

This display features a genuine fossil scute from a Giant Armadillo that lived during the Pleistocene epoch. Each specimen is carefully presented in a display box measuring 4.25 x 3.25 x .75 inches.

These scutes once formed part of the flexible shell that protected the massive armadillos of prehistoric Florida. The interlocking plates provided durable armor while still allowing the animal freedom of movement—an evolutionary balance of strength and flexibility.
