A Nautilus is a cephalopod, which is a type of mollusk and a distant cousin to cuttlefish, octopi, and squid. It can be found in the Indo-Pacific. The Nautilus uses jet propulsion to swim, drawing water into and out of its siphon. Fossil records indicate that animals similar to the Nautilus have been around for 500 million years! Because they have survived relatively unchanged for hundreds of millions of years, they are often referred to as living fossils.
