This listing is for one genuine Pyrite Sun measuring approximately 3–4 inches across. Also known as Pyrite Dollars, Miner’s Dollars, or Sun Dollars, these striking golden disks are natural crystal formations. They are not fossils, though they may resemble ancient plants.
Each Pyrite Sun formed about 350 million years ago, deep underground under immense pressure within coal seams. While pyrite (also called “fool’s gold”) is found worldwide, these unique disk-shaped formations occur only near Sparta, Illinois, making them highly sought after by collectors.
Because each specimen is a one-of-a-kind natural creation, photos are representative, and your Pyrite Sun will vary slightly in shape, texture, and luster adding to its individual beauty.
