The Gila Monster (Heloderma suspectum) is one of only two venomous lizards in the world, along with the Mexican Beaded Lizard. Native to the deserts of the southwestern United States, the Gila Monster uses its distinctive black and orange coloration to warn predators of its venomous bite. While the bite is extremely painful, it is rarely dangerous to humans. Gila Monsters feed on small mammals, birds, eggs, and insects, and they are able to store fat in their tails for survival during times when food is scarce.
This is a highly detailed replica of a male Gila Monster skull. You will receive the museum-quality cast replica pictured, which measures approximately 6.9 x 4.3 x 4.1 cm (2.7 x 1.7 x 1.6 inches).
